Barbara
Endres Illustrator Barbara's work as an artist and illustrator
developed alongside the industry itself in
Winnipeg. Starting as a commercial artist after World War II she
drew ladies' fashions for a mail order catalogue.
From there Barbara has been involved in
nearly every aspect of commercial illustration in
Winnipeg for more than 40 years.
With banner illustrations for The Globe and
Mail to her credit, as well as theatre backdrops,
book illustrations and commissioned art, Barbara
is a committed, versatile and talented artist.
Heartland is especially pleased to have Barbara's
illustrate the opening chapter spreads for
the forthcoming centennial history of St. Charles Country Club,
which will be published in 2004. Additional spot drawings complement
and enliven the archival and contemporary
photography of this book.
Barbara's other collaborations with Heartland
include Pelicans to Polar Bears, Exploring
the Fur Trade Routes of North America
and The Great Lake (all nominated
for the Best Illustrated Book of the Year award, with the
first two winning the honor).
