Tim
Higgins Author of Dancing Backwards,
Shipwreck and Broadway
Tim Higgins has lived in Winnipeg since 1952. His B.Sc. in zoology
and graduate work in human genetics naturally
led him to a career in acting, direction and
writing for television.
Tim has appeared in close to fifty productions
at the Manitoba Theatre Centre, Rainbow
Stage, and the Hollow Mug, and has directed half a dozen plays
for companies around Winnipeg. A reviewer (now
working for Variety) once favorably compared
his acting style to that of Jerry Lewis. (it was a compliment!)
He has two Blizzard nominations for screenwriting;
one for an historical documentary, the
other for drama. Both approaches stood him in good stead
when he accepted the challenge of writing Shipwreck!, and
later, BROADWAY.
His first book, Our Church is not a Building, A
History of Young United Church, was published
in 1995. His second book, Dancing Backwards, co-authored
with Senator Sharon Carstairs, is projected
for fall 2004.
