Rebecca
L. Grambo Author of Wapusk: White Bear of the
North
Rebecca L. Grambo has always had a love for animals and a
curiosity about their habits and behavior.
While growing up in Beresford, South Dakota, her
interest was encouraged by her mother, who exempted Rebecca from
household chores if she was reading a natural history
or science book.
After obtaining a degree in Geological
Engineering from the South Dakota School
of Mines &Technology in 1985, Rebecca worked as an engineer
for a time, but her continuing interest in animals eventually
pulled her into a new career as a natural history
writer and photographer.
Since 1994, she has written more than twenty
books including Bear: A Celebration of Power
and Beauty, The Nature of Foxes, Eagles: Masters of the
Sky, Mountain Lion, and many natural history and science books for
children. After spending the past two summers in
the Arctic on another project, Rebecca agreed
to write Wapusk, White Bear of the North (April
2003) for Heartland.
When she is not writing or photographing,
Rebecca can be found designing needlework
or gardening. Often in demand as a speaker and teacher, she
greatly enjoys sharing what she has learned. Rebecca
lives in Warman, Saskatchewan with her husband,
Glen, in a small house shared with four rabbits,
three guinea pigs, and two chinchillas.
