Frances Russell

Frances Russell was born in Winnipeg and graduated in history and political science from the University of Manitoba. A journalist since 1962, she has covered and commented on politics in three provinces and Ottawa, working for The Winnipeg Tribune, United Press International, The Globe and Mail, The Vancouver Sun and the Winnipeg Free Press.

She is the author of Mistehay Sakahegan ­ The Great Lake: The Beauty and The Treachery of Lake Winnipeg, published by Heartland Associates. It won the Manitoba Historical Society's Margaret McWilliams Award for Popular History in 2000. She is married with one son and makes Winnipeg her home.
